University of Maryland Academic Use

Streaming Media services are available to UM instructors and/or researchers for:

* Class group projects
* Archiving class proceedings for research purposes
* Streaming a lecture live to students off campus
* Saving sound clips for audio-based research
* Being able to bring in a guest lecturer from another part of the world

As part of OIT's continuing commitment to serve the campus and its academic endeavors, any use of the streaming server for any instructional or research activity will be, with few exceptions, provided free of charge.
